Dozier was the owner of Hot Wax Records and produced chart-topping hits for artists such as Honey Cone, Freda Payne, Chairmen of the Board, and 100 Proof Aged in Soul. He was also the founder and the owner of Invictus Records, along with the Holland brothers.
